Torcilacqua
Torciacqua is a family-owned estate situated on a sun-drenched hillside near Badia a Passignano, where vineyards are framed by forests and olive groves. In June 2018, Matteo Mariotti took over the estate, following years in the family business and realizing a lifelong dream of crafting his own wines. Under his guidance, the estate emphasizes balance, authenticity, and close attention to both vineyard and cellar.
The property stretches across a south and south-west facing slope opposite the historic Abbey of Badia a Passignano, at an average altitude of 350 meters above sea level. The combination of ideal exposure, favorable microclimate, and well-structured soils produces grapes of exceptional quality. The vineyards, with an average vine age of 20 years, are planted at roughly 5,000 vines per hectare and trained using Guyot and spur-pruned cordon systems.
Torciacqua cultivates Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, producing three distinct wines ranging from classic Chianti Classico DOCG to expressive Toscana IGT blends. Careful traditional vineyard practices combined with modern winemaking techniques result in elegant, structured wines that reflect the character of their hillside terroir.

Tastings & Experiences
Tastings of Torciacqua wines are available at Bar Divino in Badia a Passignano, as the winery itself does not host public tastings. Guests will sample four selected wines, each representing the estate’s signature styles:
Chianti Classico DOCG – a classic Sangiovese with subtle hints of Merlot, fresh and balanced.
Chianti Classico Riserva – a more complex and structured expression of Sangiovese, with depth and elegance.
Opìmo – a smooth and velvety Merlot, with ripe red fruit and spice notes.
Torcilacqua Toscana IGT – a harmonious blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, rich and well-balanced.
The wines are paired with local specialties, offering a tasting experience that highlights the Mariotti family’s craftsmanship and the character of their sun-exposed, mineral-rich vineyards. Tastings are available by reservation to ensure a personalized and intimate experience.
