Fattoria e Villa di Rignana
Fattoria e Villa di Rignana is a distinguished agriturismo set on a working vineyard in the heart of Chianti, where guests can enjoy both the natural beauty of the Tuscan countryside and the rich historical heritage of the estate. Local historical records mention Rignana as early as the 11th century, highlighting its strategic importance at the time. The estate was traditionally home to families who worked its calcareous soils, producing grain, hay, and dairy products. Each house, including the Fattoria itself, featured a wood-fired oven for baking and cooking.
In the 18th century, vines were planted on the estate, including the famous Sangiovese and Canaiolo, as well as Trebbiano and Malvasia. The first floor of the Fattoria, where the guest rooms are now located, was once the Vinsantaia, used to dry grapes for the production of Vinsanto, the traditional Tuscan dessert wine, and to store olive oil in large cotto vases after harvest.
Guests can enjoy the estate’s gardens, vineyards, and outdoor pool, providing peaceful spaces for relaxation. Breakfast is served daily, highlighting local and seasonal flavors as a gentle start to the day. The combination of traditional architecture, serene surroundings, vineyard setting, and deep historical significance makes Fattoria e Villa di Rignana an exceptional retreat for experiencing authentic Tuscan life.
